Big news in California is COFFEE. Concerned citizens and law makers alike are looking more closely into what’s in that cup of Joe most peope drink every day. Is it safe to drink, or not? Well, such as cigarettes were years ago, coffee in California might soon come with a Cancer Warning.
What has been considered harmful in coffee may not be what you think. When more than 100 people were surveyed, 90% thought that caffeine is what makes coffee “bad for you”. The caffeine in coffee is what so many people crave, so what about de-caffeinated coffee? Why would decaffeinated coffee be included in the warning?
You may be shocked to learn that after years of research it’s been found that caffeine is not what to worry about with coffee. Scientists have found that the standard roasting process causes ACRYLAMIDES... and that is what to be concerned about being in your coffee!
A subcategory in Proposition 65 now states that ACRYLAMIDES in coffee have been identified as HARMFUL. Acrylamides have been found to cause CANCER in lab mice. California is leading the nation, more likely the entire world, in informing the public of this health risk.

Why have the best beans if you don’t have the best processing? At Sisel, we take pride in our manufacturing process, which is kept entirely in-house. We roast our beans using special infrared technology. Only 2% of all the coffee beans in the world are roasted with infrared roasters and we’re proud to say ours are in that elite group. It results in lower acidity levels and more evenly roasted beans, without the burnt or bitter taste some coffee beans produce.
